From the East

By Paul Rodriguez-Obrien — Master

The end of my year is coming on us like a fully loaded freight train rolling downhill. There has been much to do with carry-overs from last year’s shut-down, and we have only been meeting in person since June to catchup and do the final push to finish-off this year above water.

We are pleased that we were able to confer a double second degree for Bro. Ozzie Ghani and Bro. Aaron Johnson. We have also listened to the 2nd degree proficiencies from Bro. Scott Hamilton, and Bro. Tremaine Ellison.

All this work from the Officers and candidates are leading us up to our crescendo, which will hopefully be four 3rd Degrees in the month of October!

I can feel that rubber-band being pulled tightly and it’s a hard stretch to pull-off this massive undertaking, and also to have this experience be a memorable and rewarding one for all.

I can’t adequately convey how proud I am of your officers for the time and effort needed to accomplish this endeavor, or of the candidates for also putting in the effort to advance within our craft.

On October 2nd, your officers will travel to the Masonic lodge located in Mendocino (hosted by the Mendocino Masonic Lodge No.179, located in Fort Bragg), to raise 1 or 2 Fellowcrafts’ to the Sublime degree of Master Mason. This event is open to all brother Master Masons, and your attendance would be most welcomed and encouraged. Please feel free to call me for Hotel suggestions in that area.

On returning to the Lodge, we are looking to Raise additional Brothers on October 14th, 21st, and 28th.

Again, please attend and welcome your Brothers who will then be our newest Master Masons within our lodge.

Last year we were able to present our ‘Hiram Award 2020’ via a webcasted Zoom event to Ron Katz, but we were obviously unable to give him the accompanying dinner. This was rectified on Thursday, August 19 as were able to meet in person and enjoy a hearty Prime Rib dinner via WM. ‘Chef Roy’ and his purveyors of fine dining. Later that night, the Hiram award recipients came together and presented to the WM their recommendations for the ‘Hiram Award 2021’, and of the list of highly deserving Brothers, I chose Henry “Hank” Andreotti.

Congratulations Bro. Hank! Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do within our lodge.

Please join us to recognize Hank on October 30th at 5:00 PM. Please RSVP the Secretary to reserve a spot for dinner.

We still have other events planned for this year, so stay tuned for more info as we work through all our final preparations. Be aware, however, there is a potential of another lock down of our Lodge by the Grand Lodge, so please plan on attending all events while we can still host them.

In wrapping up, I would like to remind you that your Officers are always just a phone call away should you need anything or would like to share something with the Lodge. Our phone numbers and email addresses are easily found within this periodical, and on the Lodge website.
