From the South

By J. Rafisura — Junior Warden

It has been a busy month so far. Opening the lodge back up and practicing and conferring degrees. All deeds done to clean up the backlog of work from the shutdown.

I am so glad we broke a long drought of conferrals since Covid19 hit by initiating Bro. Leman in July. In August, we conferred a double Fellowcraft degree, with proficiencies conducted both before and after the ceremony. It was a long night yet well worth the time invested by all. Now we have Bros. Johnson, Ghani, Hamilton and Ellison ready to progress. I wait with anticipation to welcome them to enjoy all the rights and benefits of Freemasonry as Master Masons! I pray that the commitment they have demonstrated so far will translate a further quest for light and to years of service to Crow Canyon lodge.

I’m also glad that we had our Hiram Award Dinner in honor of our well-deserved 2020 Hiram recipient, Wor. Ron Katz. Great turn-out with about 50 guests, all fed and satisfied with Uncle Roy’s juicy Prime Rib and sinfully delicious cheesecake!

As your Junior Warden, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Uncle Roy, Mark Finger, Phil Busch, Bob Wagle, Dain Warton, Johnnie Albanese, Les Blake, Chris Bokamper, Wor. Kurt Allen and all the kitchen crew who tirelessly labor to prepare the sumptuous food that we enjoy so much. The Masonic Youth groups have been on-point as they take turns to help serve our meals at each event. They are the unseen hands that allow the lodge to gather its members, have feasts and function as a lodge should. Kudos to all of you!

As of this writing we are entering September and, again, it will be a very busy month – practices and conferrals. I’d like to invite everyone to please join us in our events and practices as we continue our traditions in the spirit of fraternity, camaraderie and self-improvement.
