Brethren, welcome to the month of February, the shortest month of the year. Some sources indicate that the name, February comes from the Roman God Februus, while others indicate that February is derived from the word “februa” which was the name of the purification festivals which were held in ancient Rome on the fifteenth of this month. Regardless of its origin, we can look forward to several holidays taking place this month including Groundhog Day, George Washington’s Birthday, Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday, and Valentine’s Day. And don’t forget, this is a leap year, enjoy the 29th; it only comes around every four years!
