Welcome to the month of February, the shortest month of this year. The name February is derived from the Latin word "februa" which means to clean or purify. It was named after Februalia, the Roman festival of purification and atonement, which was a month-long event. Two notable events during the month of February include Valentine's Day on February 14th, and Presidents' Day on February 16th.
Another February event that I look forward to every year is Groundhog Day on February 2, 2026. Legend has it that if a groundhog sees its shadow on this day, there will be six more weeks of winter; if not, then Spring is just around the corner. All eyes will be on one famous groundhog, “Punxsutawney Phil”, in Gobbler's Knob of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to witness this annual event.
On February 19th, we will be conferring the Second Degree for two brothers (Baron and Johnson). Please support these two individuals in their masonic journey by attending this special double degree event.
Until next month, have a pleasant February.
