From the Secretary’s Table

It happened again. A widow called me asking for information for admission to the Masonic Home in Union City. I found the brother’s record only to find out that he had been suspended for nonpayment of dues two years ago. Thus, making his widow ineligible for any kind of assistance.

This has happened several times during my tour as a lodge secretary. How do you tell a widow she will not get any help from the outreach program after her husband was a member for many years If you are a member and cannot pay your dues a simple phone call to the Master or Secretary can help you. The lodge is going to suspend 5 members for non-payment of dues.

We will be getting our annual per-capita tax bill from the Grand Lodge at the end of June, somewhere in the neighborhood of $12,000.00. We have to carry a member for two years before we can suspend them. That means that you and I must pay for each member who chooses not to pay their dues after the second years.

We still have 24 members who have not paid their 2018 dues that means the lodge will have to pay a total of $1,127.00 for those who have failed to honor their obligation. Check your dues receipt and verify that it expires December 31, 2018.
