From the East

By Robert Eckstein, PM—Master

How good and how pleasant it is to dwell together in unity!

We enjoyed our fellowship at our first potluck last month on January 31st. We will enjoy this get together every 5th Thursday in 2019.

Our next big gathering is on February 23rd when we will hold our Annual Crab Feed. This is always a sell out so get your tickets from the Secretary as soon as you can. Stated Meeting dinner would be a good time and place.

Our lodge will be dark on Thursday, February 14th in honor of Valentine’s Day. Remember your ladies with a night out as the Lodge Officers will be honoring theirs.

We will be voting on the application of Mr. Aaron E. Johnson of Hayward. If elected he will receive his First Degree on February 28th.

Our Brother, the Assistant Secretary, sent an email last month about our duty to say farewell to our departed brothers:

From the California Masonic Code Section 804.855: “It is the duty of every member to attend the funeral of a deceased member of this Lodge or any other Master Mason residing in the vicinity of his Lodge at the time of death if he can do so without great inconvenience.” If this requirement is news to you, please take note.

On February 16th at 1 PM our Lodge will remember Howard Marmor with a Masonic Memorial Service and lunch. Howard received the Hiram Award in 2014 for his years of service to the Lodge. You may remember him in our kitchen working hard putting food on our table. He is missed very much.
