March was a busy month. Your officers attended a DeMolay Chapter and Rainbow Assembly meeting. We can enthusiastically say both youth orders are working hard and have excellent adult leadership. They represent Crow Canyon Lodge very well.
On March 20th the Lodge hosted the National Sojourners who did their “Building-the-Flag” program for DeMolay, Rainbow, Jobs Daughters, and the Boy Scouts. The Officers served over 80 attendees chicken nuggets, french fries, mac and cheese, and ice cream. It was an inspiring night. On Saturday, March 23rd the officers and Officers Coach started their day with a delicious pancake breakfast put on by our DeMolay. You could not find a better $10 meal anywhere in Castro Valley. We then went to a Masonic Funeral Master Class and four of us were certified by our District Inspector.
At our April Stated Meeting, if all the investigators submit their favorable reports, we will vote upon the application of Mr. Ted J. Rucker, of Castro Valley, to receive the degrees of Masonry. If elected he will receive his first degree on April 25th. Don’t forget we serve a light dinner before the degree.
On Thursday, April 18th we will hold our Annual Public Schools Event where we will honor two teachers with a dinner, award, and an honorarium for their meritorious service to the children of Castro Valley. If you plan to attend this fun evening, please contact the Jr. Warden to make dinner reservations.
On Saturday, April 20th we will honor the Lodge Sweethearts with a brunch and “Canvas and Cabernet “ painting party. We sent invitations to all our Masonic Widows so if you did not receive yours in the mail, please contact me or the Secretary. All Brothers and wives are welcome to attend but reservations are a must.
Your Senior Officers ended March by attending the Master & Wardens Leadership Retreat on March 29th, 30th, and 31st. “Retreat” is a bit of a misnomer because it was a working weekend all around. Even the lunches and dinner were working events. We discussed and prioritized many ideas, and future challenges, which will benefit our Lodge for many years to come.
While your Officers are meeting and working hard for the future of the Lodge, we encourage you to do your part. When was the last time you came to Lodge for a dinner , degree, event, or Stated Meeting? Please review your calendars and make a commitment to visit your Lodge once this year, if you are able. As Friendship and Brotherly Love help define us, stop by and share the fun.
The Sportsman’s Club is working on a Salmon Fishing Trip, details to follow.
For later in the year we have confirmed with Carmel Lodge that we will hold a Visitation on Saturday, October 12th. We will perform a degree, there will be a Ladies event, and a dinner. We will setup rooming should you wish to make it a get-away weekend. Please mark your calendar.
