Brethren: Welcome to the month of July. The month of July is named after a famous Roman General, Julius Caesar. This month was originally called Quintilis, but the name was changed in 44 BC when the Roman Senate chose to honor one of their famous generals.
It is during this month that we celebrate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence which took place on the 4th of July in 1776. It is interesting to note that on July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the signing of this famous document, two of our founding fathers, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, died on that same day. Five years later on July 4, 1831, another of the founding fathers, James Monroe, also passed away as well.
Happy 4th of July, and please remember to fly the flag of our country on this special day.
